Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to cook fluffy rice as a side dish in a saucepan? Prepare all the necessary products. Take cereal from a trusted manufacturer. You can read about how to choose the right rice for a crumbly side dish in the article on the intricacies of choosing rice. The link is at the end of the recipe. Take butter from natural cream, without adding vegetable fats. The fat content of real butter should be at least 82.5%.

Step 2

Step 2
Rinse the rice well, remove excess debris to remove starch from the surface of the rice grains — because starch promotes gluing. You need to rinse in warm water, as contact with cold water will cause the rice to crack. Do not rub the rice with your hands or between your palms, as this will make it brittle and will not turn out crumbly. When washing, you should lift the rice from the very bottom with your palm, as if stirring it.

Step 3

Step 3
Place the rice in the pan. You should choose a pan with a thick bottom, either stainless steel or enameled without chips. You can learn more about choosing a pan from the article. There is a link to it at the end of the recipe.

Step 4

Step 4
Fill the rice with water. Proportions: for 1 glass of rice, take 2 exactly the same glasses of water (IMPORTANT!: the ideal proportions are indicated on the packaging of the type of rice you are going to cook. Depending on the variety, the ratio of liquid to grain may vary, so read the instructions on the packaging).

Step 5

Step 5
Salt the water. Rice “takes up” a lot of salt. Therefore, you will have to add a little more salt than regular dishes. But be guided by your own taste and common sense: it is better to add a little salt to already prepared rice than to eat over-salted rice.

Step 6

Step 6
Bring to a boil over medium heat. Stir the rice to prevent it from sticking to the pan. Cook, stirring slightly, for 3-5 minutes and immediately after that reduce the heat to low.

Step 7

Step 7
At the minimum heat level, cover the pan with a lid and cook for another 15-25 minutes (this will depend on the type of rice. I cooked for 25 minutes.). It is important to cook at a minimum, otherwise the rice may burn, and if possible, do not open the lid during cooking — this is how the rice is steamed. Then turn off the heat and leave the rice in the pan, covered, for another 15 minutes. Do not open the lid under any circumstances.

Step 8

Step 8
The final touch is oil. Add the butter, wait until it melts and stir the rice and butter. For a lean version of the dish, butter can be replaced with any vegetable oil.

Step 9

Step 9
Serve delicious fluffy rice as a side dish for fish, meat, and chicken. It can also be used in various salads. Bon appetit!
