Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make a classic Greek salad with sirtaki cheese and tomatoes? Very simple. To begin, prepare the necessary ingredients according to the list. You can use any tomatoes. I have small, fragrant farm tomatoes. You can add or replace the vegetable part to your liking.

Step 2

Step 2
Wash the cucumbers, dry them and cut them into semicircles. The skin, if it is not rough, damaged or bitter, does not need to be cut off.

Step 3

Step 3
Wash the tomatoes, dry and cut into quarters, removing the core and seeds. You can leave the seeds if you wish. If you have cherry tomatoes, use halves. Tomatoes need to be juicy but firm. Soft fruits do not hold their shape well; during cutting and cooking, they will spread into a shapeless mass and spoil the appearance of the dish.

Step 4

Step 4
Cut sirtaki cheese into small cubes. You can replace sirtaki with classic Greek feta. Or other soft cheese, for example, feta cheese, mozzarella, Adyghe, curd or processed cream; True, in this case the salad will be based on the Greek one.

Step 5

Step 5
Peel the red onion and cut into thin rings or half rings. If you wish, you can marinate the onions in a mixture of vinegar and sugar for 20 minutes.

Step 6

Step 6
Combine tomatoes, cucumbers and red onions in a salad bowl. Pour olive oil over the salad, add salt and pepper and mix gently, being careful not to crush the tomatoes.

Step 7

Step 7
Complete the salad with slices of cheese. I add sirtaki after mixing the vegetables with oil and spices to keep the pieces of cheese intact.

Step 8

Step 8
To decorate the salad, you can use any greens, olives or black olives. I took small leaf basil and pitted olives.

Step 9

Step 9
Serve the salad, garnished with olives and fresh herbs. Bon appetit!
