Slow Cooker Chicken Chakhokhbili

A chic Georgian dish for the whole family. It is a meat stew with the addition of various vegetables and seasonings. In the original, chakhokhbili is made from pheasant meat, but it is not so easy to get, so I want to offer you my homemade recipe for chicken chakhokhbili in a slow cooker. The dish turns out very tasty and satisfying. You can serve anything as a side dish for chakhokhbili: potatoes, porridge or pasta.

Ingredients (6 portions)

Basic:

Garlic 4 clove
Tomatoes (or 2 pieces medium) 1 kg
Salt to taste
Ground black pepper to taste
Water 1 cup
Tomato paste 1 tsp
Parsley 1 g
Bulb onions (or 2 pieces medium) 1 pc
bell pepper (can be colored 4 pcs 1/2 each) 2 pc
Adjika (acute) 1 tsp
Green cilantro 1 bunch
Chicken legs (I have 10 pieces) 1 kg

We prepare all the ingredients for our dish.

Wash portioned pieces of chicken, add salt and fry in a microwave oven in the “baking” or “frying” mode for 15 minutes on each side (I use “baking”). I fry without oil; when frying, the chicken will release a sufficient amount of juice and will be fried in its own juice.

Cut the onion into half rings.

Cut the bell pepper into strips.

Peel the tomato and cut into cubes. Next, dilute tomato paste and adjika in water, add chopped garlic.

Finely chop the cilantro and parsley.

Place the onion in the microwave and fry along with the chicken for 5 minutes.

Layer vegetables on top of the fried chicken: bell peppers.

Next, add the tomato.

Pour the tomato mixture on top of all the ingredients.

Add salt, pepper and your favorite seasonings. Close the lid and set the “quenching” mode for 1 hour.

5-10 minutes before the end of cooking, pour in the chopped herbs and close the lid again.
