Cheesy Tomato Minced Meat Nests

An interesting twist on a traditional dish for dinner! Nests of minced meat with cheese and tomatoes, baked in the oven — these are the same cutlets with filling placed in the center. When baked, the cheese melts, and the tomatoes give a lot of juice, making the dish juicy and very tasty!

Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make nests from minced meat with cheese and tomatoes in the oven? Prepare your food. Use minced beef or mixed minced meat, pork and beef. In general, such nests can be prepared from minced chicken/turkey. Take stale bread, yesterdayʼs bread. Turn the oven on 180 degrees.

Step 2

Step 2
Cut the crusts off the bread, break the crumb into a bowl and add a small amount of water. Or milk, whichever you prefer. I prefer water. Leave the bread to rise for 10 minutes, kneading it occasionally to ensure the crumb is soaked evenly.

Step 3

Step 3
Place the minced meat in a bowl, beat the egg into it. Squeeze out excess liquid from the swollen bread and also add to the meat. Salt and pepper the minced meat to taste. You can also add any spices you like or have on hand.

Step 4

Step 4
Knead the minced meat thoroughly until completely homogeneous.

Step 5

Step 5
Take a baking dish and line the bottom with baking paper or foil. Read about how to choose a baking dish in a separate article at the link at the end of the recipe. Make balls out of the minced meat, as if you were making cutlets. Place them in the mold. Use a spoon to make indentations in the center of the cutlets. Lubricate them with a small amount of mayonnaise.

Step 6

Step 6
Grate the cheese on a medium grater. Cut the tomatoes into cubes.

Step 7

Step 7
Place grated cheese in the indentations and place tomato slices on top.

Step 8

Step 8
Bake the nests in an oven preheated to 180°C for 45-60 minutes, until lightly browned on top. The exact time will depend on the features of your oven. Mine takes longer to bake than usual; the nests took an hour to prepare. You can learn about the operating features of ovens by reading a separate article, link at the end of the recipe. Serve the finished cutlets to the table. Bon appetit!
