Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to bake duck with oranges? Prepare the necessary ingredients. I have a duck weighing about 2 kg. Take medium-sized fruits.

Step 2

Step 2
Rinse the duck thoroughly inside and out, and dry well with paper towels. Use tweezers to remove small feather residues, if any. Cut off the sebaceous glands on the tail. If the duck is domestic, this must be done so that the finished dish does not have an unpleasant odor. I also cut off the halves of the wings.

Step 3

Step 3
To make the duck meat soft and tasty, you need to marinate the bird. For the marinade, wash and dry the citrus fruits. Remove the zest from the orange.

Step 4

Step 4
Squeeze the juice from a whole orange and lemon.

Step 5

Step 5
In a suitable sized bowl, combine lemon and orange juices, vegetable oil, orange zest, ginger and salt. Mix well until the salt is completely dissolved.

Step 6

Step 6
Rub the marinade inside and out of the duck. Leave it to marinate for at least 1 hour. The best option is to leave the bird in the marinade overnight in the refrigerator. The longer the marinating lasts, the tastier the baked duck will be. While marinating, turn the duck over, basting and rubbing with marinade so that the bird is soaked in marinade on all sides.

Step 7

Step 7
Cut two oranges into quarters.

Step 8

Step 8
Place the marinated duck in a baking dish. Pack the sliced oranges tightly into the belly. Place a cinnamon stick approximately in the middle of the abdomen. If you donʼt like cinnamon, donʼt add it.

Step 9

Step 9
Secure the skin on the abdomen with a wooden skewer or toothpicks.

Step 10

Step 10
Cover the dish with the duck on top with foil.

Step 11

Step 11
Bake the duck in an oven preheated to 180C for 1 hour 30-1 hour 45 minutes. Since everyoneʼs oven is different, cooking times and temperatures may vary. Focus on the operating features of your oven. Remove the duck from the oven and carefully remove the foil so as not to burn yourself.

Step 12

Step 12
Pour some of the juice released during roasting of the duck into a small container. Combine it with honey and mix well until smooth.

Step 13

Step 13
Pour the resulting mixture over the duck so that during further baking a golden brown crust will form. To prevent the legs and wing tips from burning, wrap them in pieces of foil. Return the duck to the oven and continue cooking for about half an hour, occasionally basting the duck with juices.

Step 14

Step 14
If desired, you can additionally cut the orange and apple into slices and place them on the duck 15 minutes before the end of cooking.

Step 15

Step 15
Bake the duck until golden brown. Check readiness by piercing the meat with a knife. If the knife fits in freely and the meat is soft, then the duck is ready. Remove foil and toothpicks.

Step 16

Step 16
Bon appetit!
