Rooster-Shaped New Year’s Cake Recipe

Bake a beautiful and unusual cake for your holiday table! I propose to bake a New Yearʼs cake in the shape of the Rooster — the owner of the coming year. I offered my version of a sponge cake, but, in principle, it can be anything. The main thing in this recipe is the idea of decoration. In this simple way you can decorate the New Yearʼs table and delight your guests not only with the original look of the cake, but also with its excellent taste.

Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
First you need to bake the cakes. To do this, beat eggs with regular and vanilla sugar and salt. Then add sour cream, soda slaked with vinegar, and add sifted flour. Pour the dough into a mold greased with vegetable oil and place in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 35 minutes. Let the cake cool, after which you can proceed to assembly. Place a cup on the crust.

Step 2

Step 2
We circle the cup with a knife and cut out part of the cake.

Step 3

Step 3
The cut out piece will be the head of the cockerel.

Step 4

Step 4
Cut off the right corner from the corner. Letʼs crumble this piece of biscuit and set the crumbs aside for now.

Step 5

Step 5
This is the silhouette of the cockerel you should get.

Step 6

Step 6
Cut the body and head of the rooster into halves lengthwise. Add boiled water to the strawberry jam and heat it up a little. Coat the inside of the cakes with warm jam. Next we will use cream, which is best prepared while the cakes are baking. Beat well-chilled cream with regular and vanilla sugar for 2 minutes, add cottage cheese and beat for another 3 minutes. Apply the resulting cream generously to the head and body of the cockerel on the underside, and sprinkle with crumbs.

Step 7

Step 7
Assembling the cake. Coat it on all sides with cream, sprinkle with coconut flakes. Using marmalade, we decorate the cockerel — lay out the comb, beard, beak, tail, wing and legs.

Step 8

Step 8
We put the finished New Yearʼs cake in the refrigerator for at least 2-3 hours, after which it can be served. Happy New Year!
