Vanillin 1 g
Eggs 1 pc

Kefir 200 ml

Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make Viennese waffles? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Place the butter in the microwave and heat until it melts. Sift the flour through a sieve to saturate it with oxygen. Eggs can be used in any category. Take kefir with medium fat content of 1-2%.

Step 2

Step 2
For the dough, choose a comfortable high bowl so that when mixing the dough, splashes do not fly around the sides. Combine the egg and sugar in a bowl.

Step 3

Step 3
Then add kefir and mix everything. You can use a mixer for this. I baked waffles without salt, just sweet, but if you wish, you can add a pinch of salt at this stage and stir to enhance the taste.

Step 4

Step 4
Then add flour, soda and vanilla into the dough in parts. Depending on the quality of flour, you may need a little more or a little less. You can read more about flour and its properties in a separate article, link at the end of the recipe. First, carefully mix everything with the flour by hand, and then you can turn on the mixer. If you immediately turn on the mixer, the flour will begin to fly around the kitchen. Therefore, first it must be immersed in the dough.

Step 5

Step 5
The last step is to stir the melted butter into the dough.

Step 6

Step 6
The finished dough will become homogeneous and thick. Almost like pancakes. Preheat your waffle iron or multi-baker and spoon out the prepared dough. Cover with a lid and cook for the required time. I cook Viennese waffles in a multi-baker and it takes me 12-14 minutes. Depending on the quality of the panelsʼ finish, they may need to be oiled before first use. Be guided by your waffle iron.

Step 7

Step 7
The finished waffles should be a delicious golden color. This amount of dough is enough for 6 waffles, i.e. for 3 baking times, two waffles each.

Step 8

Step 8
These Viennese waffles will be a great addition to tea or coffee. They can be supplemented with berry sauce, cream, jam or topping. Or you can simply sprinkle with powdered sugar. Enjoy your tea!
