Ingredients (5 portions)

Basic:

Puff pastry 250 g

Filling:

Apples 200 g
Brown sugar 50 g
Raisin 30 g
Lemon juice 2 tbsp
Starch 1 tbsp
Vanilla sugar 1 tsp
Cinnamon 0.5 tsp

Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make apple strudel from puff pastry? Prepare the ingredients for the filling. Take any apples to suit your taste. If they are sour, add more sugar — and vice versa. I used brown sugar, but white sugar, honey, and molasses would also work here. Wash the apples and dry with napkins. Thaw the puff pastry first.

Step 2

Step 2
Sort the raisins, remove any debris, place them in a bowl and pour boiling water over them. Leave the raisins to soak for 7 minutes. After this time, drain the water and dry the raisins.

Step 3

Step 3
Peel the apples, cut into 4 parts and remove the seeds and stalks.

Step 4

Step 4
Cut each apple quarter into thin slices.

Step 5

Step 5
In a bowl, combine apple slices, dried raisins, starch, and ground cinnamon. Pour in lemon juice.

Step 6

Step 6
Add brown or regular sugar to the apples. Mix everything well.

Step 7

Step 7
For one strudel we need 250 g of puff pastry without yeast. If you buy store-bought dough, it is better to take it in plates of 250 g each. It is convenient to roll out the plates and give them the rectangular shape needed for the strudel.

Step 8

Step 8
Roll out the puff pastry on a generously floured work surface.

Step 9

Step 9
Spread the apple filling on the side, leaving the edges free. See exactly how in the photo.

Step 10

Step 10
Tuck the side edges of the dough so that the filling does not fall out and the juice from the apples does not flow out.

Step 11

Step 11
Carefully roll the dough into a log, being careful not to tear.

Step 12

Step 12
Place the roll on a parchment-lined baking sheet, seam side down. Use a knife to make transverse cuts on its surface.

Step 13

Step 13
Bake the strudel in an oven preheated to 180°C for about 40 minutes until golden brown. Determine the exact baking time and temperature based on your oven.

Step 14

Step 14
Cool the finished strudel and sprinkle with powdered sugar. Cut it into pieces and serve. Bon appetit!
