Jam (thick) 3 tbsp

How to make croissants from ready-made puff pastry? Prepare your food. Remove the dough from the freezer in advance and defrost. It is best to do this in the refrigerator compartment, where it will thaw slowly and without compromising quality. It is better to take thick jam; liquid may leak out during baking.

Sprinkle the working surface of the table with flour and place the dough on it. Start rolling it out carefully in different directions. You will immediately understand which direction it rolls better. Start rolling there, so you will do less damage to the structure of the layers. In general, it is advised not to touch puff pastry with a rolling pin, but in this recipe, thin rolling is important. Roll out the dough to a thickness of several millimeters.

First divide the resulting rectangle into three equal parts, and then cut each of them diagonally. One layer of dough will make 6 triangles. Make a small cut at the base of each triangle to form bagel-shaped croissants.

Place a spoonful of jam at the base of the piece.

Make one twist of the dough, while bending the ends slightly towards you. This is where the cut comes in handy. Lightly pinch the dough to enclose the filling.

Continue to roll the dough further, bending the ends slightly all the time, so that you end up with a curved bagel.

Line a baking tray with baking paper or a special Teflon mat. Place the croissants on it, making sure to leave space between them, as the dough will increase during baking. From two layers of dough I got 12 pieces. Baking tray size 30*40 cm.

Cover the baking sheet with a towel and let the preparations rest for about 10 minutes. Then brush each bagel with beaten egg. Beat the egg well enough with a fork. It is most convenient to lubricate with a silicone brush.

Bake the croissants in an oven preheated to 200°C, top-bottom mode, for about 20 minutes. Determine the exact baking time and temperature based on your oven. Check their readiness by their appearance; they should rise well and brown. Sprinkle the finished croissants with powdered sugar.
