Portuguese-Style Baked Apples with Custard Cream

Baked apples with cream are a great holiday dessert. Of all the types of creams, custard is my favorite. Recently I saw an interesting idea for oven-baked apples with custard. The dessert is inspired by the national Portuguese pastries made from puff pastry with cream, called paste. The apples are soaked in aromatic cream, and the cream takes on the taste of apples. You can serve it warm or cold — equally delicious.
