How to make sochivo for Christmas from wheat? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. According to desire and taste, the quantity of ingredients can be changed, in addition, you can add something, for example, some other dried fruits or fruits.

Wheat must be prepared in advance. Rinse the grain thoroughly several times until the water runs clear. Fill it with cold, clean water so that it completely covers the wheat and leave overnight. If time does not allow, you need to soak the wheat for at least a few hours.

In the morning, drain the water, rinse the wheat again and add a fresh batch of water. It is better to cook wheat in a saucepan with a thick bottom, as this grain takes a very long time to cook. There should be three times more water than grain. Add a pinch of salt to the pan with wheat. Bring the water to a boil, reduce the heat to medium, cover the pan loosely with a lid, and cook the wheat for about two hours.

While the wheat is cooking, letʼs prepare the additives for sochiv. Poppy seeds need to be washed and steamed well. To do this, put it in a saucepan and fill it with water, put it on medium heat. When the water boils, turn off the heat. Cover the pan with a lid and leave to stand for half an hour. Then drain the water and mash the poppy seeds with a push or blender.

Also rinse the raisins thoroughly, pour boiling water over them and leave for 20 minutes to swell.

Wash the walnuts, dry them in the microwave or on the stove in a dry frying pan. Grind using a rolling pin or blender to the desired size.
