How to cook barley with chicken in the oven? Prepare all the necessary products that are indicated in the recipe. If you have a frozen bird, remove it from the freezer in advance and leave it at room temperature until thawed. You can take a chicken breast or cut the flesh from the legs and thighs of the bird.

Rinse the pearl barley several times until it is clean. Place the pearl barley in a baking dish, add water so that the liquid covers the barley by about 1.5 cm, cover with foil and place in the oven to simmer for several hours. Periodically open the oven and check the degree of readiness. Time and temperature depend on the capabilities of your oven. To save time, the cereal can be boiled in a saucepan (about 40 minutes). I boil it more often.

Prepare the rest of the ingredients. Rinse the chicken, dry it and cut into small cubes. Peel the carrots and onions and rinse together with the champignons under running cold water.

Cut each mushroom in half and then into thin slices. However, champignons can be chopped in any way convenient for you. Chop the onion as finely as possible and cut the carrots into cubes.

Heat vegetable oil in a thick-bottomed frying pan. Place the chicken, carrots, onions and mushrooms in the pan.

Fry the meat, vegetables and mushrooms, stirring constantly, for about 5-7 minutes.

Add the contents of the frying pan to the finished porridge. Add salt to taste, add your favorite herbs and spices, such as: garlic powder, basil, oregano, turmeric, a mixture of ground peppers, paprika, etc. I usually just use ground allspice and it comes out great.

It turns out very tasty if you add a piece of butter at this stage (literally 30-40 grams). The finished pearl barley comes out rich with a creamy taste. But keep in mind that this will make the dish more caloric. This step can be skipped.

Mix everything carefully, cover the baking dish with foil and place in the oven for 40-50 minutes. Set the temperature from 180 to 220 degrees, depending on your oven.
