Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to cook millet porridge in a slow cooker using water? Prepare your food. I specifically weighed them on scales so that you know their exact quantity. But in general, the proportions are very simple — take two volumes of water for one volume of cereal. It doesn’t matter what you use to measure volumes — multi-glasses or regular dishes.

Step 2

Step 2
First of all, sort through the millet, separating debris and red unopened grains. Then rinse the millet. I usually pour it into a wide bowl and fill it with warm tap water. Look how dirty the first water is. Itʼs cloudy, you canʼt even see the millet. Rinse the cereal thoroughly with your hands and drain the water.

Step 3

Step 3
Thus, rinse the millet in several waters, each time draining the dirty water and filling it with fresh water. When the water becomes clear and the millet turns a bright yellow color, you can stop.

Step 4

Step 4
Drain the last of the water from the millet. Additionally, you can scald the cereal with boiling water so that it does not become bitter after cooking. This method will get rid of bitterness.

Step 5

Step 5
Pour the prepared cereal into the multicooker bowl. Add salt to taste. Place half of the total amount of butter on top, cutting into cubes.

Step 6

Step 6
Fill the cereal with clean water. For these purposes, use good quality water, filtered or bottled. Tap water contains many additives that will add an unpleasant aftertaste to the finished dish.

Step 7

Step 7
Place the bowl in the multicooker. Set the mode suitable for cooking cereals. On my model this is the “Buckwheat” mode, on others there is a special one called “Grain”. If you have a cooking time set, select 30 minutes. My mode is automatic. When the multicooker finishes working and the beep sounds, open the lid and put the remaining oil into the hot porridge. If you have time, you can leave it to simmer under the closed lid for another half hour.

Step 8

Step 8
Mix the porridge with butter. You can put it on plates and serve it to the table. Bon appetit!
