Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to cook delicious pea porridge with pork in a pan without soaking? Prepare your food. Take any meat without bones, I have pork tenderloin. I always prefer split peas — they cook faster and better. You can use any spices you like. I don’t pre-soak peas; if you are used to soaking them, then fill them with water 8 hours before cooking.

Step 2

Step 2
Wash and dry the meat — excess moisture will interfere with frying. Cut the meat into medium-sized cubes. You can make pea porridge with beef, chicken or other meat to taste, but keep in mind that the calorie content of the dish and cooking time will change.

Step 3

Step 3
Peel the onion and cut into small cubes.

Step 4

Step 4
Grate the carrots on a coarse grater.

Step 5

Step 5
Heat a frying pan over high heat, pour in vegetable oil for frying. Place meat in oil. Fry it, stirring, until the color changes — this way you will “seal” the juice inside and the meat will be soft. Add chopped onions and carrots to the meat. Fry everything together for a couple more minutes, at the end salt and season the meat with spices. Read about how to choose a frying pan, as well as how to choose the right vegetable oil, in separate articles, links at the end of the recipe.

Step 6

Step 6
Transfer the meat to the pan in which you plan to cook the porridge. Choose dishes with a thick bottom to prevent the peas from burning. Read about the intricacies of choosing a cooking pan at the end of the recipe. Add washed peas to the meat. If you soaked it, drain the water and rinse well.

Step 7

Step 7
Pour boiling water over the meat and peas until the water covers it by 2cm. Wait until it boils, turn the heat to minimum. Cover the pan with a lid and leave the porridge to cook.

Step 8

Step 8
How long does it take to cook pea porridge? This will depend on how cooked you like your peas. You can leave it slightly hard, or you can cook it until it becomes pureed. If the cooking water boils before the peas are ready, add a little more boiling water. At the end, salt the porridge to taste.

Step 9

Step 9
Serve the porridge to the table. Bon appetit!
