Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make pearl barley in a pressure cooker? Prepare ingredients for making pearl barley porridge as a side dish. The main thing is that the pearl barley is fresh, of high quality, and light. In a multicooker-pressure cooker, pearl barley will turn out tender, soft and tasty if you cook it with the addition of milk. You will learn the intricacies of making pearl barley by reading the article at the end of the recipe.

Step 2

Step 2
Rinse the pearl barley thoroughly, changing the water several times until the water becomes clear. Pour cold, clean water over the pearl barley and leave for 2 hours so that the barley swells a little. Ideally, leave the cereal overnight if time permits. Drain the water from the bowl with the cereal, place the pearl barley in a colander and rinse it again under running water.

Step 3

Step 3
Place the pearl barley into the multicooker bowl.

Step 4

Step 4
Add salt to taste. Pour in water and milk. Close the lid and valve. Set the program to “pilaf” for 15 minutes. While cooking porridge, the pressure cooker must not be opened. When the cooking program ends, a signal will sound, open the valve, release steam, and only then open the lid. The porridge is ready. Add a piece of butter, stir and serve.

Step 5

Step 5
If you don’t have a pressure cooker, you can cook the porridge in a regular slow cooker. In a regular multicooker, the process of cooking pearl barley porridge will take a little longer; you need to select the “porridge” program for 25 minutes or “multi-cooker”, depending on the model of the multicooker. Remember that multicookers work differently and the time and mode may not match. Read more about multicookers in a separate article at the end of the recipe.

Step 6

Step 6
Tasty and tender pearl barley porridge is ready, and thanks to cooking it in a multicooker-pressure cooker, this dish turned out to be not only quick and simple, but also very healthy, since when cooked under pressure, all the vitamins and nutrients remain in the cereal, unlike the usual long-term cooking of pearl barley. If desired, pearl barley porridge can be prepared immediately along with meat and vegetables. Bon appetit!
