Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make polenta from corn grits? Prepare your food. Any cereal will do, both coarse and fine. The latter is faster and easier to cook; this is what is most often sold under the name polenta. The cooking time for this type of cereal is 4-5 minutes, this is exactly what I have. The article at the link at the end of the recipe will help you with choosing corn grits.

Step 2

Step 2
How to cook corn polenta in water? Pour water into a saucepan with a thick bottom (this is necessary so that the porridge does not burn). The proportions for polenta are simple — 1:4, for 1 cup of cereal 4 cups of water. Place the saucepan on the stove and wait for the water to boil. Add salt. And then, with constant stirring, the cereal. Cook the polenta over medium heat, stirring vigorously, according to the time indicated on the package. The porridge will thicken greatly. Be careful, it may splash.

Step 3

Step 3
Determine if the polenta is ready by tasting — the grain should become soft. You can serve it straight to the table by sprinkling it with cheese or drizzling it with honey. Or you can cool it by transferring it to any container. I chose a rectangular shape.

Step 4

Step 4
Once cooled, polenta becomes dense and easy to cut with a knife. Remove the polenta and cut into pieces. Make the pieces about 1cm thick so that they warm up well when frying.

Step 5

Step 5
Polenta can be served with any additions — fried mushrooms, meat, vegetables, I took brisket. Cut it into small pieces.

Step 6

Step 6
Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Place the brisket pieces and chopped polenta on it. Fry them, stirring, until golden brown. Read about how to choose a frying pan in a separate article, link at the end of the recipe.

Step 7

Step 7
Serve the polenta hot with the fried brisket, add herbs and cherry tomatoes. Bon appetit!
