Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to cook peas in a slow cooker? Prepare your food. It is best to use split peas for this dish. It cooks faster than whole. Also pay attention to the quality of the peas. If stored for a long time, it can become overdried, which will affect the consistency of the finished dish. Pre-sort the peas, removing excess debris and spoiled grains. Sometimes you can find small pebbles in peas. Be careful.

Step 2

Step 2
Rinse the peas under running water until the water runs clear. Then, if time permits, you can soak the peas for a couple of hours. Pre-soaked peas cook faster. You can soak in either cold or hot water. Another secret to cooking legumes faster is adding a pinch of baking soda to the water. If you don’t have time to soak, then cook the peas immediately after washing.

Step 3

Step 3
Peel and grate fresh carrots. You can also cut it into large bars or cubes.

Step 4

Step 4
Turn on the slow cooker. Select a mode suitable for frying. That’s what I call it, “Frying”. Pour in vegetable oil. After the oil has warmed up a little, place the carrots in the bowl and fry them for four to five minutes, stirring with a special spoon. You can also add finely chopped onions to the carrots. You can also prepare pea porridge with tomatoes, sweet peppers, or without vegetables at all.

Step 5

Step 5
Then add the washed peas to the multicooker bowl.

Step 6

Step 6
Cover the peas with cold water. Salt and add your favorite spices. You can add dried basil, dill, ground black pepper. Select the mode for stewing, set the time to 1.5 hours. During this time, the peas will be completely boiled. If you like a more homogeneous mass, grind the finished porridge with a blender or crush it with a masher. When serving, you can add fried pieces of bacon to the peas or sprinkle it with croutons. Bon appetit!
