Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to cook millet porridge in pumpkin with milk? Prepare your food. I bought a small pumpkin weighing a little over a kilogram. I also advise you to take this and even smaller ones, because they will bake faster.

Step 2

Step 2
Wash the pumpkin and dry with napkins. Cut the top off the pumpkin, but do not throw it away, but set it aside. It will serve as a lid for us.

Step 3

Step 3
Remove the middle part with seeds from the pumpkin using a tablespoon and a knife.

Step 4

Step 4
This is the “pot” you will end up with.

Step 5

Step 5
Sort the millet and rinse very well under running water until transparent. Transfer the washed millet to the pumpkin.

Step 6

Step 6
Pour milk into the millet in the pumpkin. Add salt and sugar to taste. Instead of sugar, you can use honey or a sweetener that is not susceptible to heat treatment.

Step 7

Step 7
Cover the pumpkin with the previously cut top. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Place the pumpkin on a baking sheet or in a rimmed baking dish. And send it to a preheated oven. Bake the pumpkin for about 20-30 minutes. Then reduce the heat to 150C and bake the pumpkin for about 20-30 minutes. Determine the exact baking time and temperature based on your oven.

Step 8

Step 8
Check the readiness of the porridge by the condition of the millet. After an hour of total time, it was still raw. When the porridge is almost ready, add butter to it, opening the lid slightly. After the baking time is over, turn off the oven and leave the pumpkin in it to simmer for another half hour. Bon appetit!
