Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to bake chicken with cabbage in the oven? Prepare all the necessary products. You can use any part of the chicken for this recipe. This time I took the chicken leg. If you have frozen meat, first remove it from the freezer and leave it at room temperature until completely thawed. I used young cabbage, it has more tender leaves, and therefore in the finished dish it turned out softer and juicier.

Step 2

Step 2
Cut the chicken into equal-sized portions. Rinse the meat, dry with paper towels and place in a deep bowl. Add mayonnaise, salt and pepper to taste. At this stage, you can use any spices you like. You can use your own homemade mayonnaise, it will be tastier and healthier. Below the steps you will find a link to a catalog of homemade mayonnaise recipes.

Step 3

Step 3
Mix everything well and leave to marinate for half an hour to an hour at room temperature.

Step 4

Step 4
Remove outer leaves from cabbage. Rinse the head of cabbage and dry it. Cut the cabbage into strips with a knife. Donʼt make the stripes too thin.

Step 5

Step 5
Peel the carrots and onions. Cut the onion into half rings or cubes, and grate the carrots on a grater with large teeth. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan. Sauté the vegetables until the onion is translucent.

Step 6

Step 6
Add tomato paste, stir and leave on the stove for another minute. Tomato paste can be omitted from the recipe if desired.

Step 7

Step 7
Send the tomato frying to the cabbage. Salt and pepper everything to taste.

Step 8

Step 8
Mix thoroughly.

Step 9

Step 9
Place the cabbage in a suitable sized dish and spread the marinated chicken on top. During baking, the cabbage will settle and its volume will decrease by almost half.

Step 10

Step 10
Place the pan in a preheated oven. Bake the chicken with cabbage until the meat is done. Determine the time and temperature yourself, based on the capabilities of your oven. I baked at 200 degrees for about 50 minutes. At the end of cooking, I turned on the convection mode and left for another 10 minutes until the chicken was browned. Time and temperature are approximate. Read more about how different ovens work at the end of this recipe.
