Ingredients (2 portions)

Basic:

Garlic (or a little more to taste) 3 clove
Chilli (can be replaced with bell pepper) 1 pc
Olive oil 1 tbsp
Sugar (half a tablespoon.) 1 tbsp
Green onions (50-100 grams) 50 g
Chicken fillet (3 pcs.) 600 g
Sesame (for serving as desired) 0.5 tsp
Soy sauce 3 tbsp
Sesame oil (can be replaced with any other vegetable to taste) 3 tbsp

How to make chicken gongbao — kung pao? Very simple! Prepare all the necessary products. If you have frozen chicken breast, defrost it in advance. Read about all the intricacies of proper defrosting in a separate article, link at the end of the recipe.

Rinse the breast and dry with paper towels. Cut the chicken into medium sized cubes (about 2cm by 2cm). Place in a deep, suitable-sized bowl.

Pour in soy sauce and sesame oil. Add sugar.

Mix everything thoroughly. Cover the bowl with cling film and place in the refrigerator to marinate for several hours (preferably overnight).

Peel the garlic. Cut the white part of the green onion lengthwise into 2-4 parts as in the photo. Chop the garlic with a knife and cut the chili pepper into thin rings. If you donʼt like spicy dishes, then replace the chili with red sweet pepper.

Heat the olive oil in a high-rimmed frying pan (preferably a wok). Send the marinated chicken to fry for 4-5 minutes. If necessary, add salt to taste. I usually donʼt do this, soy sauce is enough. Cook the chicken in batches so that the pieces have plenty of room in the pan and donʼt stick together. Place the breast on a separate plate. In the same frying pan over moderate heat, sauté the garlic, onion and chili pepper for about a minute. Donʼt forget to stir everything periodically so that nothing burns.

Add the prepared breast and fry everything together for about 2-3 minutes.

When serving, sprinkle the chicken with sesame seeds. Ready!
