Tender Chinese Cabbage Rolls with Minced Meat and Rice

For cabbage rolls:

Chinese cabbage 0.5 pc
Minced meat 350 g
Carrot 1 pc
Parboiled rice 0.3 cup
Salt 0.5 tsp
Ground black pepper to taste

For the sauce:

Tomato sauce 2 tbsp
Sour cream 3 tbsp
Water 300 ml
Salt to taste

How to make cabbage rolls from Chinese cabbage with minced meat and rice? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. You can take the top green leaves of Chinese cabbage, they are larger. But I don’t really like the color of finished cabbage rolls, so I prefer the inner pale leaves. In addition, they make cabbage rolls more miniature. I also add fried mushrooms to the filling, although they are not in the recipe itself. This is only optional.

First of all, prepare the rice. Steamed rice is best for cabbage rolls; it remains dense and holds its shape well. Rinse the rice thoroughly in warm running water until clear. Pour water into the pan, add salt and boil the rice for 10 minutes until half cooked. Drain the rice in a colander and rinse with cold water. Let it drain completely.

Place minced meat in a bowl. For cabbage rolls, it is best to use minced pork and beef in equal proportions. Peel the carrots, wash and grate on a fine grater. Add to the bowl with the minced meat, salt and pepper.

Place cooked rice in a bowl.

Mix everything well. If the minced meat is very dense, add a little cold water.

Separate the Chinese cabbage into leaves and cut off the narrow lower part, it will be needed later. Place the leaves in a bowl and cover with hot water for 5 minutes. This will make the leaves soft. Drain and pat dry.

Lay out a leaf of Chinese cabbage and add some of the minced meat.

Wrap the minced meat in a sheet, shaping it into a cabbage roll.

Cut the bottom of the cabbage into strips and place on the bottom of the pan. It will serve as a cushion between the iron and the cabbage rolls to prevent them from burning. Place the cabbage rolls on the chopped cabbage.

Pour water into a bowl, add sour cream, stir tomato sauce. Salt and pepper the sauce to taste.
