Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make boiled cauliflower? Very simple! Prepare everything you need. Take a suitable sized saucepan, fill it with water and place it over medium heat. At this point, you can cover the pan with a lid to help the water heat up faster. Bring the water to a boil. Read how to choose a pan in a separate article at the end of the recipe.

Step 2

Step 2
Once the water boils, add salt to the pan to taste. I add a teaspoon of salt. But since everyone’s taste is different, you may need different amounts.

Step 3

Step 3
Cauliflower can be used either fresh or frozen. Fresh ones must first be washed under running water and disassembled into inflorescences. Be sure to check your cabbage for pests. If you have frozen cauliflower, you do not need to defrost it. But sometimes it happens that it sticks together into one big lump, so it also needs to be disassembled into inflorescences.

Step 4

Step 4
Place the cabbage in boiling water and cook without a lid for about ten minutes after the water boils again over medium heat. The cabbage should boil well, but not turn into porridge. The cooking time is the same for both fresh and frozen cauliflower. If you like slightly crunchy vegetables, then reduce the cooking time slightly. It is believed that if you cover the pan with a lid at this stage, the cabbage will turn yellow.

Step 5

Step 5
If you need to stir the cabbage during cooking, do it as carefully as possible so as not to disturb the integrity of the delicate inflorescences. For example, I didn’t stir the cabbage at all during cooking. By the way, the shorter the heat treatment time, the more benefits will be retained in the inflorescences.

Step 6

Step 6
Place the cabbage in a colander and wait a couple of minutes to allow the water to drain. After this, serve the boiled cauliflower immediately.
