Basic:

Onion 1 pc
Salt to taste
Butter 20 g
Water 3 cup
Rice 1 cup
Vegetable oil 1 tbsp
Dry spices to taste
Turmeric 1 tsp

How to make rice in a frying pan with onions as a side dish? Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Any variety of rice can be used. I prefer to use long grain steamed for garnish. You can take any spices to your liking. First of all, peel the onion and rinse it in running cold water so that it does not sting your eyes. Finely chop the peeled onion.

Pour a little vegetable oil into a hot frying pan and place chopped onions on it. Fry it, stirring, for a couple of minutes until golden brown.

While the onions are frying, prepare the rice. Rinse it several times until you get clean, clear water.

Add a piece of butter to the onion in the pan and wait until it melts.

Then add the rinsed rice and stir to coat it with the melted butter. Add salt, spices and turmeric. Mix everything.

Pour water over the rice and bring everything to a boil. Then cover the pan with a lid, reduce the heat and cook the rice until cooked. This will take 15-20 minutes.

While cooking, check the rice for softness and monitor the water level. You can initially add not all the water, but only 2/3 of it and, if necessary, add more if there is not enough water. But you will need to add hot water so as not to change the temperature of the dish being prepared. Serve a side dish of rice hot with any meat or fish dishes. Bon appetit!
