Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to stew cabbage and potatoes in a slow cooker? Prepare your food. Wash and peel the potatoes well. Remove the top leaves from the cabbage with a fork and cut in half. Peel the onion, cut in half, use half. Instead of tomato paste, you can use canned peeled tomatoes, tomato juice, ketchup, and sauce.

Step 2

Step 2
Cut half an onion into half rings or quarters. Place in a multicooker bowl, into which you first pour odorless vegetable oil. Select the mode suitable for frying (depending on your model) and set the time (if possible) to 7 minutes.

Step 3

Step 3
Cut the peeled potatoes into medium cubes or cubes. Add it to the bowl with the onion slices, fry the vegetables together for the specified time, stirring every 1-2 minutes so that they do not burn. If you wish, you can add chopped carrots if you like them in this dish.

Step 4

Step 4
At this time, cut the halves of a small fork of cabbage into medium ribbons and strips. There is no need to chop it too much, otherwise the cuttings will turn into puree when stewing. To make the dish cook faster, place the cabbage slices in a deep container with a little pressure so that they release the juice.

Step 5

Step 5
When the frying mode ends, the onion will already have a golden brown color. Reprogram the equipment to a mode suitable for stewing for 25 minutes — this time will be quite enough for both cooking potatoes and stewing cabbage slices.

Step 6

Step 6
Place the cabbage slices in the multicooker bowl, distributing it evenly.

Step 7

Step 7
Sprinkle with salt and ground black pepper. If desired, you can use other spices, seasonings, herbs. The dish turns out very tasty when you add ground paprika or garlic.

Step 8

Step 8
Place tomato paste or other substitute product into the bowl. Add sugar — it neutralizes the acidity of the tomatoes. Pour in hot water or broth, if available. Close the appliance with a lid and cook the dish until the end of the specified time, until the beep sounds. There is no need to stir the contents of the bowl during cooking.

Step 9

Step 9
After the beep, carefully open the lid and release the steam to avoid getting burned. At this stage, you can add a little melted butter to the dish (if you are not fasting) for flavor and chopped fresh herbs if you do not plan to add them directly to the plates.

Step 10

Step 10
Using a slotted spoon, spoon the stewed cabbage and potatoes into plates and let cool slightly before serving. Chop fresh herbs (such as green onions, dill or parsley) and sprinkle them on the dish before serving. Bon appetit!
