Fast, simple, tasty and very festive! Hot from tomatoes with cheese in the oven, this simple, unsophisticated hot appetizer is simply impossible to tear yourself away. Grilled tomatoes are delicious on their own, but when combined with Italian cheese, garlic and spices, they are simply a gorgeous treat.

Garlic 2 clove
Tomatoes 400 g
Olive oil 2 tbsp
Ground black pepper to taste
Parmesan 40 g
Basil (2-3 branches) 10 g
Sea salt to taste

How to bake tomatoes with cheese in the oven? Prepare the necessary ingredients. It is better to take Italian cheese, which retains its shape and does not spread in different directions under the influence of high temperatures. Parmesan, unbrined pizza mozzarella, or other semi-dry cheese are ideal.

Wash the tomatoes, dry them and cut them into not very thick, but not very thin slices. Choose tomatoes that are ripe but strong. Soft fruits do not hold their shape well; during the cutting and cooking process they will spread into a shapeless mass and spoil the appearance of the dish, but we need the circles to remain intact and retain their original shape as much as possible. Pink tomatoes are ideal — they are sweet and fragrant.

Peel the garlic and finely chop it with a knife.

Grate Parmesan or other hard semi-dry cheese on a medium grater.

Line a baking sheet or baking dish with parchment and grease with olive oil. Arrange the tomatoes overlapping in one layer.

Brush the tops of the tomatoes with olive oil and sprinkle with chopped garlic, sea salt and pepper. Since we have in this dish the classic Italian combination of tomatoes — Parmesan — basil, a pinch of Italian herbs will come in very handy here. Place the baking sheet with the tomatoes in an oven preheated to 180°C and bake on the grill for about 10 minutes. Determine the time and temperature based on your oven.

Then remove the tomatoes from the oven, sprinkle with grated cheese and return to the oven for another 3-5 minutes to melt the cheese.
