Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make carrot and apple salad? Prepare your food. Take either one large carrot or two small carrots, one per serving. There should be fewer apples in proportion to carrots, so either one medium one or two small ones will do.

Step 2

Step 2
Wash the carrots well under running water with a brush, dry, cut off the ends. Peel the top layer of the root vegetable; it is most convenient to do this with a vegetable peeler — it removes a very thin layer. Wash the apple and wipe dry.

Step 3

Step 3
Grate the carrots. Which one — choose for yourself. Both large and medium are suitable; I grated them for Korean carrots. For small children, you can take a very small one, which grates vegetables into puree. If desired, the carrots can be cut into thin strips with a knife, then the salad will be more textured.

Step 4

Step 4
Chop the apple. Here you also decide for yourself — large or small, on a grater or with a knife. I cut it into cubes. I cut out the core with the seeds, but left the peel. You can pre-cut it. For children, it is better to grate the apple on a fine grater, just like carrots.

Step 5

Step 5
Place the carrots and apple in the salad bowl. Depending on their sweetness, add sugar or honey to taste. But in general you can do without these products — then the salad will be even healthier. It will also be delicious to replace regular sugar with cane sugar — it will add a light caramel note.

Step 6

Step 6
All thatʼs left is to dress the salad. I chose extra virgin olive oil, but in general, any vegetable oil that you like the taste of or that you have on hand will do. You can also use sour cream, cream or melted butter as a dressing. Please note that carotene from carrots is absorbed better only when paired with fat, so the salad is seasoned with fat-containing products. Serve the salad to the table. Bon appetit!
