Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make Fish in a Pond salad? Prepare your ingredients. Wash the potatoes and carrots and boil them in their skins. Let the vegetables cool and peel them. Boil the eggs hard, cool and remove their shells. Spicy lovers can add finely chopped onions to the salad. But you can do without it, since the salad contains green onions. Grate the boiled potatoes in their jackets or chop them in a blender. Place it in the first layer in a salad bowl.

Step 2

Step 2
Salt the potato layer to taste, but a little, since the salad is dressed with mayonnaise. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on top of the potato layer.

Step 3

Step 3
Grate the boiled carrots on a coarse grater and place them in a second layer in a salad bowl. Lubricate the carrot layer on top with mayonnaise.

Step 4

Step 4
Place sprats on the carrots, which can first be slightly mashed with a fork or even pureed. Set a few sprats aside — they will be needed to decorate the salad. Lubricate the layer with mayonnaise again.

Step 5

Step 5
Next, add chopped boiled chicken eggs. You can also grate the eggs or chop them using an egg slicer. Brush the tops of the eggs with mayonnaise.

Step 6

Step 6
Grate the hard cheese on a fine grater. You can use any hard cheese depending on your taste and availability. Sprinkle grated cheese on top of the salad. Wash the green onion thoroughly, cut it into small pieces, and sprinkle it on the salad along the edge of the salad bowl. Leave a few onion feathers for decoration.

Step 7

Step 7
Stick the onion feathers and sprats into the salad, using a knife or fork to help secure them in an upright position. It turns out to be a kind of imitation of a pond with reeds, duckweed and fish swimming in it. Guests will love it. A beautiful and tasty salad with sprats is ready. Let it sit in the refrigerator for a couple of hours until it is well soaked. Serve the salad to the table. Bon appetit!
