Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make chard salad with a flavorful dressing? Prepare everything according to the list. Pick the leaves from the garden or buy them at the store. For the salad, you can use chard with white, yellow, red or green stems. Wash the leaves and stems thoroughly to remove dust, remaining soil and sand, if any.

Step 2

Step 2
Next, separate the fleshy stems from the leaf, as in the photo.

Step 3

Step 3
Rinse everything again.

Step 4

Step 4
Cut the stems into small fragments approximately 1.5 — 2 cm long.

Step 5

Step 5
Boil the water. Add the chard stems to the pan and simmer over moderate heat for about 4-7 minutes. After 3-4 minutes, try one piece. If it becomes soft, then everything is ready. If the stem crunches, then leave it to simmer for some more time. Remove the finished stems using a slotted spoon into a separate bowl.

Step 6

Step 6
At this time, chop the lettuce leaves randomly.

Step 7

Step 7
Place in the same water and keep on low heat until the sheets are soft. This will take about one minute. Remove with a slotted spoon.

Step 8

Step 8
Place chard in a colander and allow excess water to drain.

Step 9

Step 9
Prepare the dressing. In a deep bowl, mix oil, mustard, pressed garlic and squeezed juice of half a lemon. Add ground black pepper and salt to taste.

Step 10

Step 10
Place the leaves and stems in a deep cup. Pour in the resulting sauce and mix everything thoroughly. Taste and add the missing ingredient (salt, lemon or garlic) to taste.

Step 11

Step 11
Let the finished salad sit for a while.

Step 12

Step 12
It will be especially tasty when the salad sits in the refrigerator for half an hour to an hour.
