Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to bake whole champignons in sour cream in the oven? Prepare your food. Any champignons will do — fresh or frozen. Frozen ones do not need to be thawed first. I have royal ones. Choose mushrooms that are small, strong and unspoiled. Use sour cream of any fat content, the main thing is that it is natural, without vegetable additives.

Step 2

Step 2
Prepare the sour cream sauce immediately. To do this, put the sour cream in a bowl. Pass the peeled garlic cloves through a press. Adjust their quantity to your taste — you can increase or decrease, but you shouldn’t remove it completely; garlic goes very well with mushrooms. You can also add any chopped herbs to the sauce, I used parsley. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir. You can also add any spices you like.

Step 3

Step 3
Prepare the mushrooms. Gently, using a sponge, wipe the champignons, trying not to get them too wet — excess moisture will make the mushrooms watery and not tasty. Dry the mushrooms thoroughly with a paper towel. Place them in a bowl. If you have large mushrooms, cut them in half.

Step 4

Step 4
Add sour cream sauce to the bowl with the mushrooms, stir so that each mushroom is coated with sour cream. Leave them to stand for 20-30 minutes so that the champignons are saturated with garlic and spices. You will learn what to do to prevent sour cream from curdling by reading the article at the end of this recipe.

Step 5

Step 5
Take a suitable baking dish. Place a little vegetable oil on the bottom. Spread the butter. Place the mushrooms in the pan, cap side down. Keep in mind that the champignons will shrink in size when roasting, so place them more densely.

Step 6

Step 6
Bake the champignons in the oven, preheated to 180°C, for 20-30 minutes. The exact time will depend on your oven and the size of the mushrooms. The times are approximate, be guided by the operating characteristics of your oven.

Step 7

Step 7
Serve the mushrooms baked whole in sour cream and garlic hot to the table. Bon appetit!
