How to make potato dumplings? Prepare your food. You can make mashed potatoes, or you can use ready-made ones. The approximate amount of starch is given; it may take more or less. This will depend on the consistency of the potato dough.

Step 2

Wash and peel the potatoes well. Cut it into small pieces, put it in a saucepan and cover with clean cold water.

Step 3

Step 3
Place the potatoes to cook over medium heat, add salt to the water, and bring to a boil. Boil the potatoes for about 20 minutes. Check readiness with a sharp knife; it should pierce the pieces easily.

Step 4

Step 4
Drain the water and cool the potatoes until warm.

Step 5

Step 5
Mash it into a puree using a potato masher.

Step 6

Step 6
Add the egg and stir the potatoes with a spoon. Add flour and a little starch. Knead the dough. Gradually add starch until the dough is not too stiff and soft.

Step 7

Step 7
Take some dough and place it on a floured board. Roll the sausage, then cut it into small pieces about 1.5 cm wide. Roll each piece into a ball.

Step 8

Step 8
Form dumplings — dip your finger in the starch, press it into the middle of each ball, making a depression approximately to the middle of its volume.

Step 9

Step 9
This is what the dumpling should look like.

Step 10

Step 10
Place a saucepan with plenty of water on the fire. Salt it. Bring to a boil. Throw the dumplings in there. Itʼs best to cook a small amount of dumplings at a time to prevent them from sticking together. First they will sink to the bottom, then they will float up. As soon as the dumplings float to the surface, they are ready, remove them with a slotted spoon. Throw in the next portion. Boil all the dumplings this way.

Step 11

Step 11
Serve the finished dumplings immediately, with butter, sour cream, fried onions or tomato sauce. Bon appetit!
