Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to bake buns with poppy seeds from yeast puff pastry? Prepare the necessary ingredients according to the list. You can use puff-yeast dough, like mine, or pure puff pastry or yeast dough. I have frozen ready-made dough, purchased in square plates. I needed one plate. The dough must first be defrosted on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator. You can make your own homemade dough. You will find the recipes after the last step.

Step 2

Step 2
Pour the poppy seeds into a bowl, pour boiling water over them and leave for 15 minutes.

Step 3

Step 3
Then drain the poppy seeds into a fine sieve. Place the poppy seeds back into the bowl, pour boiling water over them for another 15 minutes and drain again into a sieve. This will remove the dust and bitterness that accumulated before packaging from the poppy seeds and make the filling soft, tender, and most importantly, it will reveal the taste and aroma. Dry the poppy seed.

Step 4

Step 4
In a blender bowl, combine poppy seeds, sugar and soft butter.

Step 5

Step 5
Beat everything for 1 minute.

Step 6

Step 6
Roll out the dough into an even rectangular layer.

Step 7

Step 7
Place the filling on the dough and spread evenly over the entire surface, slightly retreating from the edges.

Step 8

Step 8
Roll the dough into a tight log.

Step 9

Step 9
Using a sharp knife, cut the roll into 8 equal pieces.

Step 10

Step 10
Place the resulting pieces onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, seam side down, at a distance from each other. I have high-quality siliconized parchment, so I didn’t grease it with anything — the finished buns came away from it well and didn’t stick. Read more about the types of parchment in the article. The link is at the end of the recipe.

Step 11

Step 11
Brush the pieces with beaten egg using a brush. Bake the buns in a preheated oven at 150°C for about 35 minutes, then another 10 minutes at 180°C until golden brown. Read more about how to choose the right baking time and temperature in the article. The link is at the end of the recipe.

Step 12

Step 12
Place the finished buns with poppy seeds on a plate and serve immediately. Bon appetit!
