Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make tandoori flatbreads in the oven? Take a deep bowl, as you will need to mix a fairly large volume and quantity of ingredients in it. Sift flour into it and add salt. Stir until the salt is evenly distributed throughout the flour.

Step 2

Step 2
Pour dry yeast into warm water and mix well, for about a minute, so that it is well soaked and dispersed in the water. This will make it easier to distribute them evenly throughout the dough. Pour the resulting mass into a container with flour and start mixing it with a spoon. Then continue kneading the dough with your hands.

Step 3

Step 3
When the dough begins to come together, pour in the vegetable oil. It will give elasticity to the dough. Continue kneading the dough. This will take another 10-15 minutes. For convenience, it can be laid out from the container onto the work surface. After 15 minutes, place the dough in a bowl, cover it with cling film and leave for 10 minutes.

Step 4

Step 4
The cakes can be made both large and small. And it’s better if they are the same, so divide the dough into equal parts using a scale (for accuracy). The weight of my flatbreads is 160 grams each. Round the blanks by rolling them into balls. Place them under film and leave them for 40-60 minutes in a warm place to rise.

Step 5

Step 5
Grease the working surface with a small amount of vegetable oil. Take one piece of dough, place it on the surface and, using your hands, from the middle to the edge, form a flat cake, leaving a border around its entire perimeter. Make a pattern in the center of the cake using a special stamp. But if you don’t have one, take a regular fork or meat hammer and make a simpler decoration. Make cakes from all the preparations.

Step 6

Step 6
Place the finished pieces on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Beat the egg in a separate container and brush the resulting flat cakes with it. Sprinkle the center of the cakes with sesame seeds. Next, place the baking sheet with the flatbreads to proof. To do this, put them in the oven with the lamp on (without heating) for 15 minutes.

Step 7

Step 7
Then preheat the oven to 220°C. At this time, go through the center of the cakes again with a hammer or fork so that the pattern is clearer and the center is crispier. Bake the cakes until golden brown (20 minutes). Since all ovens operate differently, times may vary. Place the finished tortillas on a wire rack.

Step 8

Step 8
Serve to the table. Bon appetit!
