Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
Ingredients needed to make pig buns.

Step 2

Step 2
For the dough, pour half of the entire amount of milk into a bowl, heated to 40 degrees. Crumble the yeast into the milk, add 1 tsp. sugar and 1 tbsp. l. flour. Mix everything well.

Step 3

Step 3
Place the dough in a warm place for 15 minutes to allow the yeast to start working. When a foamy cap appears, you can start kneading the dough.

Step 4

Step 4
In a large bowl, combine the remaining warm milk, softened butter, remaining sugar, salt and egg.

Step 5

Step 5
Mix the ingredients with a whisk, add the dough.

Step 6

Step 6
Mix everything.

Step 7

Step 7
Add flour in parts and knead the dough.

Step 8

Step 8
Cover the bowl with the dough with a clean kitchen towel and place in a warm place for 1 hour.

Step 9

Step 9
After an hour, knead the risen yeast dough on a table sprinkled with flour. The dough is very good, elastic.

Step 10

Step 10
Divide the dough into 8 parts.

Step 11

Step 11
Remove casings from sausages. Cut each sausage in half crosswise and cut off the edges that will be needed for decoration.

Step 12

Step 12
Roll out one part of the dough into a ribbon with a width corresponding to the size of half a sausage and a length of 20 cm.

Step 13

Step 13
Place half a sausage on one edge of this rolled out piece of dough.

Step 14

Step 14
Roll the roll so that the sausage is inside and visible from both sides.

Step 15

Step 15
Cut the sausage roll in half crosswise and place the cut side facing up. You will get two future buns. Thus, from 8 pieces of dough you will get 16 buns.

Step 16

Step 16
Use your hand to lightly press the dough around the sausage so that it protrudes slightly above it.

Step 17

Step 17
Transfer the future buns to a baking sheet covered with parchment. Leave some space between the buns — they will expand after baking.

Step 18

Step 18
Cut the trimmed edges of the sausages into 32 quarters. Attach them to the buns, imitating ears. Make “eyes” with pieces of raisins, and use a cocktail straw to squeeze holes in the sausages to make “spots”.

Step 19

Step 19
Brush the buns with egg yolk mixed with water.

Step 20

Step 20
Bake piglet-shaped buns in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
