Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to bake a pie with potatoes and chicken in the oven? Prepare all the necessary ingredients.

Step 2

Step 2
Take the butter, melt it over low heat and let it cool slightly. It is convenient to do this in a saucepan or in an enameled metal bowl.

Step 3

Step 3
Take sour cream, put it in a deep bowl (to make it convenient to knead the dough in it), add salt, mix.

Step 4

Step 4
Pour the cooled butter into the bowl and mix well.

Step 5

Step 5
Sift flour and baking powder through a sieve or using a special mug. This will saturate it with oxygen and make the baked goods airy. Add flour to the butter and sour cream mixture little by little. Start kneading the dough with a spoon and then with your hands. You may need a little less or more flour. But do not add too much flour so that the dough is not too tough.

Step 6

Step 6
The consistency of the dough should be homogeneous, soft, pliable, slightly oily. Donʼt knead it for too long. Cover the finished dough with cling film and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Step 7

Step 7
How to make the filling? Prepare all the ingredients for the filling.

Step 8

Step 8
Wash the chicken fillet under running water, dry and cut into small cubes. Transfer it to a bowl.

Step 9

Step 9
Salt the chopped fillet, add dried dill and basil, stir. You can use any spices if you wish. Set aside for now, letʼs return to the fillet a little later.

Step 10

Step 10
Take onions, peel, wash and finely chop. I have pink onions, you can use regular ones. If desired, the cutting method can be changed. Move the bow to the side, you will need it later.

Step 11

Step 11
Take the potatoes, wash them under running water with a brush, peel them and cut into thin slices. Add ground coriander and salt to the chopped potatoes and mix well. You can use any spices to suit your taste. Set the potatoes aside for now, as well as the other filling elements.

Step 12

Step 12
Remove the dough from the refrigerator, divide it into 3 unequal parts (see photo). I used the smallest part of the dough for decoration. If you do not plan to decorate the pie, then divide the dough into 2 parts.

Step 13

Step 13
On a floured board, roll out most of the dough into a round piece slightly larger in diameter than the pan.

Step 14

Step 14
Take a baking dish and grease it with butter. Using a rolling pin, transfer the dough into the mold, the edges of the layer should lie on the sides of the mold, form the sides of the pie from them.

Step 15

Step 15
Letʼs start laying out the filling. First, arrange the potato slices evenly.

Step 16

Step 16
Then add and distribute the onions evenly. You can take more onions if you wish.

Step 17

Step 17
Next, distribute the chicken fillet pieces evenly.

Step 18

Step 18
Place pieces of butter on the chicken fillet to make the filling juicier. Roll out the second part of the dough into a circle and cover the top of the pie. Connect the edges and protect well.

Step 19

Step 19
Roll out the remaining dough into a layer and cut out decorations from it. Make a small hole in the middle of the cake to allow steam to escape while baking. Brush the top of the pie with whipped yolk. This is necessary for a beautiful, ruddy color.

Step 20

Step 20
Place the pan in an oven preheated to 180 degrees and bake for about 45 minutes. If the pie starts to brown too much, cover the top with foil. Baking times are approximate; be guided by the operating characteristics of your oven. Let the finished pie cool slightly and serve by cutting it into portions. Bon appetit!
