Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to bake kupaty with potatoes in the oven? Prepare your food. You can take ready-made kupats or prepare them yourself. See the link to homemade bath recipes at the end of the recipe. If the sausages are frozen, defrost them first by transferring them from the freezer to the bottom shelf of the refrigerator — this will make the process as delicate as possible.

Step 2

Step 2
Prepare the sauce. To do this, place sour cream and tomato sauce in a bowl. Sour cream is suitable for any fat content; you can use mayonnaise instead. Instead of sauce, you can use ketchup or tomato paste. Add salt, pepper and any seasonings, I used khmeli-suneli. Squeeze the peeled garlic cloves through a press.

Step 3

Step 3
Mix the ingredients well until smooth.

Step 4

Step 4
Rinse the potatoes well with a brush under running water, then peel and dry. Cut the tubers into wedges as you would for country-style potatoes. Cut medium potatoes into 4-6 pieces, large ones into 8-10. Try to make even slices so that the potatoes bake evenly.

Step 5

Step 5
Take a baking sleeve, cut a long piece from it, 70-80cm. Pinch one edge with a clip or tie a knot. Place the chopped potato wedges in the sleeve. Place kupats on top. Pour the sauce over them. I also added extra salt to the dish.

Step 6

Step 6
Mix the products well right in the sleeve so that the sauce is evenly distributed over them. Tie the open end of the sleeve. Place it in a baking dish or on a baking sheet, tucking the ends under. Using a toothpick, make a few holes in the top to allow steam to escape so the sleeve doesnʼt explode in the oven.

Step 7

Step 7
Bake kupaty with potatoes in the oven at 180°C for 45 minutes to 1 hour. The exact time will depend on the features of your oven and the volume of food. I cooked for 1 hour. If you want your dish to brown, then cut the sleeve 15 minutes before the end and finish baking it already open.

Step 8

Step 8
Remove the finished dish from the oven, carefully cut the sleeve so as not to get burned by the steam. Serve kupaty with potatoes to the table. Bon appetit!
