Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to bake chicken drumsticks with potatoes in the oven? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Sour cream is suitable for any fat content. Choose young or quickly boiling varieties of potatoes. Spices and herbs are a matter of taste and preference, so you can add what you like best. Olive oil can be replaced with any vegetable oil. Or spread pieces of butter on the potatoes before baking.

Step 2

Step 2
In a deep bowl, combine sour cream with paprika, salt, 1 teaspoon of dried basil and stir. If desired, you can add garlic, passed through a press.

Step 3

Step 3
Wash the chicken drumsticks and pat dry with paper towels. Add the drumsticks to the sour cream and mix well. Leave them to marinate for 1-1.5 hours. If time does not allow, then you can slightly reduce the duration of marinating. But keep in mind that the longer the drumsticks are marinated, the tastier, more tender and more aromatic they will be. For marinating, you can use any other marinades.

Step 4

Step 4
Turn on the oven to 180 degrees in advance. Peel the potatoes, wash them, cut into thin slices. If the potatoes are old, dense, difficult to boil, or you are not sure that they will have time to cook, then simply blanch them in boiling water, already chopped, for about 2-3 minutes (they should become softer, but remain half-raw), then carefully drain them in a colander and continue cooking.

Step 5

Step 5
Peel, wash and cut the onions into thin quarters or half rings. To prevent the onion from stinging your eyes when slicing, rinse it and the knife with cold water.

Step 6

Step 6
Combine potatoes with onion and basil, add salt, olive oil and ground black pepper. Mix everything well.

Step 7

Step 7
Place the prepared potatoes in a baking dish and smooth out.

Step 8

Step 8
Place chicken drumsticks on top.

Step 9

Step 9
Cover the pan with foil. Bake the drumsticks with potatoes in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for about 1 hour. Baking times and temperatures are approximate — use your oven and potato variety as a guide.

Step 10

Step 10
After an hour, remove the foil and place the pan back in the oven for 15 minutes to brown the chicken. Serve the chicken drumsticks hot with potatoes. If desired, you can sprinkle with finely chopped fresh herbs before serving. Bon appetit!
