Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to stew potatoes with stew in a saucepan? It’s very simple, even a novice housewife can handle it. To begin, prepare the necessary ingredients according to the list. I have beef stew, but you can also use pork. It is very important to choose a high-quality stew that contains more meat and less fat. This directly depends on the variety. I usually take the Extra variety. There is always a lot of meat in it.

Step 2

Step 2
Remove the stew from the jar and divide into small pieces. You can completely remove the fat, especially if you have pork stew, so that the dish is not very fatty. Since I have beef stew, I still left some fat.

Step 3

Step 3
Peel the potatoes and cut into medium cubes.

Step 4

Step 4
Peel the carrots and grate on a coarse grater.

Step 5

Step 5
Peel the onion and cut into small cubes. If you or your children don’t like onions, you can omit them at all or add a whole onion while simmering under the lid so that the onions release all their juices into the dish and can be thrown away at the end.

Step 6

Step 6
Heat vegetable oil in a thick-bottomed saucepan. Add the onion and fry for 3 minutes over high heat until translucent. How to choose vegetable oil, read the article at the end of the recipe.

Step 7

Step 7
Add carrots and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.

Step 8

Step 8
Add the stew to the vegetables and stir. Simmer everything over low heat for about 5-7 minutes.

Step 9

Step 9
Add potatoes to the pan. Add suneli hops, salt and pepper, add bay leaf.

Step 10

Step 10
Pour in boiling water. Mix everything well. The potatoes should be almost completely submerged in water. For this, 80 ml of water was enough for me; if necessary, you can increase the amount.

Step 11

Step 11
Simmer over low heat, covered, for 25-30 minutes until the potatoes are cooked, stirring occasionally.

Step 12

Step 12
Place the potatoes and stew on plates and sprinkle with herbs. Bon appetit!
