Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to cook cabbage soup from sauerkraut and beef? Prepare all the ingredients you will need to prepare cabbage soup. Take the beef on the bone, in this case you will get a rich and aromatic broth. I used beef flesh and bone separately.

Step 2

Step 2
Rinse the beef and place in a pan of suitable size. The article at the end of the recipe will help you with choosing a pan. Fill with cold water. Adjust the amount of water as desired depending on how thick the soup you want to end up with. Place the pan on the stove. Bring everything to a boil over high heat. Remove the foam using a large spoon.

Step 3

Step 3
Place peeled onions and carrots into the pan. Reduce the flame to low and simmer the broth for about 1.5-2 hours. Open the lid slightly to allow steam to escape. The beef should become soft.

Step 4

Step 4
Place sauerkraut in a frying pan and pour in 100-150 ml. water and place on the stove. After boiling, reduce the heat, cover the pan with a lid and simmer for 35-40 minutes.

Step 5

Step 5
Peel the potatoes and remaining onions and carrots. Rinse the vegetables.

Step 6

Step 6
When the meat is ready, remove it from the pan to a separate plate. Throw away the boiled carrots and onions; you won’t need them anymore. Cut the slightly cooled beef into small pieces.

Step 7

Step 7
Cut the potatoes into small cubes, and the carrots into cubes or circles. Add potatoes and carrots to the broth. Bring everything to a boil over high heat, then reduce the flame and simmer covered for 10 minutes.

Step 8

Step 8
At this time, chop the onion into small cubes and fry in a frying pan in vegetable oil.

Step 9

Step 9
Place sauerkraut, beef, fried onions and a couple of bay leaves into a saucepan. Cook covered for another 15-20 minutes.

Step 10

Step 10
At the end of the cabbage soup, add salt to taste, add chopped garlic and herbs if desired. This time I used a couple of dill sprigs with umbrellas for the greens. Simmer the cabbage soup for a couple more minutes, then turn off the stove and let the soup brew under the lid for 15-20 minutes.

Step 11

Step 11
Done, serve! Offer ground pepper and sour cream to everyone on a plate.
