Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make pea soup with smoked lard? Prepare the necessary ingredients for this. Smoked lard gives pea soup a unique flavor. Instead of lard, you can use raw smoked bacon or smoked ribs. The whole flavor of the finished soup lies in the smoky aroma. I use split peas, which do not require soaking. For cooking time for peas, follow the instructions on the package.

Step 2

Step 2
Pour water into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Add peas and cook for 20 minutes.

Step 3

Step 3
Peel the onions and carrots. Rinse the vegetables to remove dirt and chop. Finely chop the onion and grate the carrots.

Step 4

Step 4
Separately, heat the pan until hot. Cut the smoked lard into pieces. I cut the part of the lard that is with the meat larger, and the pure lard into small pieces so that they are fried. Place the lard in a dry frying pan without oil and fry for 2-3 minutes. The lard will melt enough fat for frying.

Step 5

Step 5
Next, add chopped onions and carrots to the pan. Mix everything and fry for another 2-3 minutes.

Step 6

Step 6
Peel the potatoes and cut into pieces. Place the chopped potatoes in the pan with the peas.

Step 7

Step 7
Next add the frying with lard. Stir. Add salt to taste. Cook everything together for another 20 minutes. During this time, the peas will have time to finish cooking. The potatoes will become soft, and the fried smoked lard will give all its taste and aroma to the soup.

Step 8

Step 8
Remove the finished soup from the heat, pour into bowls and serve hot. Bon appetit!
