Tomato Sprat Cabbage Soup

Fish option with canned fish — quick and tasty. I have never prepared a fish version of cabbage soup, although in Rusʼ they were also prepared with fish broth. There are many variations of this dish. The nice difference between cabbage soup and other first courses is the presence of white cabbage in it. And there should be a lot of it. But the remaining ingredients can be quite varied.

Ingredients (5 portions)

Basic:

Water 1.5 l
White cabbage 300 g
Potato 2 pc
Ground black pepper to taste
Dill to taste
Salt to taste

Roasting:

Carrot 1 pc
Garlic 2 clove
Sprat in tomato sauce 250 g
Vegetable oil 2 tbsp

Prepare the ingredients. To prepare cabbage soup with sprat in tomato sauce we will need: drinking water, white cabbage, potatoes, bay leaf, ground black pepper and salt.

Shred the cabbage.

Peel the potatoes, cut into medium slices.

Boil water in a saucepan. Add shredded cabbage. Cook for 5 minutes.

Then add potatoes and salt. Cook for another 15 minutes, stirring.

Roasting. To prepare the frying we will need: a can of sprat in tomato sauce, carrots, garlic, vegetable oil.

Grate the carrots on a coarse grater.

Peel the garlic and pass through a press.

Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan. Place carrots.

Immediately add the garlic, passed through a press. Fry, stirring, until the carrots are soft.

Then add the sprat with tomato to the pan along with the sauce. Stir and simmer together over low heat for 5 minutes.

Add the roast to the pan. Stir, bring to a boil and cook for 2 minutes. If desired, add dried or fresh dill to the cabbage soup and remove the pan from the heat.
