How to make meatless red lentil soup? We will need: water; lentils (I used red, but you can also use green); potato; carrot; ground black pepper and salt.

Rinse the lentils thoroughly until the water is completely clear and soak in water for 2 hours. After soaking, rinse the lentils several more times until the water is clear.

Transfer the lentils to the pan in which the soup will be cooked. Fill with water. Place on the fire and bring to a boil. Cook for about 20 minutes over medium heat.

Peel the potatoes and cut into small cubes.

Peel the carrots and grate on a coarse grater.

Add potatoes and carrots to the pan. Cook the soup for about 20 minutes until the vegetables are cooked through.

5 minutes before the end of cooking, add salt and pepper to the soup. After the cooking time has passed, remove the pan from the heat, cover with a lid and leave for 10 minutes.
