Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to stew cabbage with sausages in a slow cooker? Prepare your food. Take juicy cabbage; the dish tastes best when it is young. You can change the number of sausages to your liking. Instead of sausages, any boiled sausage will do. Choose high-quality, tasty sausages, the taste of the entire dish will depend on this.

Step 2

Step 2
Prepare all the vegetables right away so that you can simply throw everything into the slow cooker. Wash, dry and clean them. Cut the onion into small cubes.

Step 3

Step 3
Grate the carrots on a coarse grater.

Step 4

Step 4
Tear off the top leaves of the head of cabbage. Chop the required amount of cabbage into thin strips. Cutting into cubes is also suitable, whatever you like.

Step 5

Step 5
Cut the sausages into rings.

Step 6

Step 6
Set your multicooker to a mode suitable for frying. It may be called differently on different models. Some people call it “Frying”, but my multicooker fries in the “Baking” mode. Set the time to 20 minutes. Preheat the appliance, pour vegetable oil for frying into the bowl. Add onion. Read about how to choose the right vegetable oil in a separate article, link at the end of the recipe.

Step 7

Step 7
Fry the onion, stirring, for about 5 minutes, until translucent. You donʼt have to close the lid. Add carrots to the onion. Continue sautéing the vegetables together for another 5 minutes.

Step 8

Step 8
Then add the sausages to the vegetables and stir. Fry everything together for a couple more minutes.

Step 9

Step 9
Place all the cabbage in a bowl. Salt and pepper the dish. You can also add any spices to your taste. Dilute tomato paste in half a glass of water, stir and pour it into the cabbage. You can adjust the thickness of the dish with the amount of water — if you want cabbage with gravy, add more. Stir the cabbage.

Step 10

Step 10
Set the mode suitable for stewing. I call it “Stewing”; in other models it may have a different name. Set the time to 1 hour. If you like your cabbage crispier, you can reduce it to 30 minutes. The exact time depends on the features of your multicooker, read about this at the end of the recipe. Stir the finished dish again. I also leave it on the heating mode for half an hour so that the cabbage becomes more stewed.

Step 11

Step 11
Serve the stewed cabbage to the table. Bon appetit!
