Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make stewed cabbage with meat in a saucepan? Wash the beef pulp and cut into portions, at the same time removing hard, stringy films, if any.

Step 2

Step 2
Heat a frying pan over high heat. Pour in two tablespoons of sunflower oil and heat it thoroughly. Fry the beef over high heat on all sides until golden brown. This way the meat in the finished dish will be more juicy and soft.

Step 3

Step 3
Peel the onion and cut into small cubes. Peel the carrots and grate on a coarse grater. Fry the vegetables in sunflower oil (one tablespoon) until soft.

Step 4

Step 4
Place the fried beef in the first layer in a deep pan, then the onions and carrots.

Step 5

Step 5
Fresh white cabbage must be prepared. You need to remove the top few leaves from the head of cabbage. They wonʼt be needed. Using a sharp knife, finely chop the cabbage. Sprinkle with salt and knead a little with your hands.

Step 6

Step 6
Place the cabbage in the pan.

Step 7

Step 7
Mix tomato paste with water.

Step 8

Step 8
A small life hack. If I have leftover tomato paste that I donʼt expect to use anytime soon, I simply form it into one-tablespoon portions and freeze it. Portioned tomato paste can be stored in the freezer for up to three months and is very convenient to add to dishes.

Step 9

Step 9
Salt the cabbage, add dried herbs and bay leaf. Pour in tomato paste and water. My secret to delicious stewed cabbage is adding sugar. Simmer the cabbage under a closed lid, stirring occasionally and adding water if necessary, for an hour.
