A simple version of barley kutya for Christmas — with honey and poppy seeds! Kutya is prepared in many families during Christmas. I recommend a simple option in a thermos for those who are limited in time.

Ingredients (4 portions)

Basic:

Sugar 1 tsp
Water 450 ml
Honey 3 tbsp
Walnuts 50 g
Raisin 100 g
Pearl barley 150 g
Poppy food 3 tbsp

Rinse the pearl barley and transfer it to a thermos.

Pour boiling water over the cereal, not reaching 3-4 cm from the neck.

Close the thermos well and leave for 4 hours.

Pour boiling water over the poppy seeds and raisins, cover the poppy seeds. Leave for 1 hour.

Grind the nuts (in a mortar, knife or rolling pin).

Drain the poppy seeds and mix with sugar.

Grind the poppy seeds in a mortar until a light juice appears.

Drain the raisins. Add a little hot water to the honey and stir.
