Slow Cooker Chicken and Buckwheat Pilaf

A quick and satisfying dish for every day for the whole family! Buckwheat with chicken in a slow cooker is made in the same way as pilaf, with buckwheat instead of rice. Fried chicken meat with vegetables and spices gives the dish a rich taste and aroma. It’s much more convenient to do it this way—nothing will burn or run away.

Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make buckwheat with chicken in a slow cooker? Prepare your food. Pre-sort the buckwheat, removing debris and unrefined grains. I used chicken fillet, but in general any parts of chicken will do. The only thing is that it won’t be very convenient to eat with bones. Wash and peel the vegetables. Choose seasonings to taste.

Step 2

Step 2
Wash the chicken meat and dry it well; excess moisture will prevent it from frying. Cut the fillet into medium pieces, like for goulash.

Step 3

Step 3
Heat the vegetable oil in the multicooker bowl, turning the multicooker to a mode suitable for frying. To fry the chicken with vegetables, you will need 15 minutes in an open slow cooker. Place the chicken pieces in the slow cooker and, stirring with a wooden spatula, fry for 10 minutes.

Step 4

Step 4
While the chicken is roasting, quarter the onion rings.

Step 5

Step 5
After 10 minutes of frying the fillet, when the moisture has evaporated and the meat is browned, add the chopped onion. Stir the meat and onions and fry them together for another 3 minutes.

Step 6

Step 6
During this time, cut the carrots into small cubes or strips. Or grate it. Keep in mind that the final result in this dish depends on how you chop the carrots: grated carrots during heat treatment will turn into pulp and mix evenly with the rest of the ingredients; cut into strips or cubes will retain their shape.

Step 7

Step 7
Immediately add the chopped carrots to the chicken and onions, add salt and seasonings, stir and cook for another two minutes, then turn off the frying program. Or it will end on its own, depending on the model.

Step 8

Step 8
Rinse the buckwheat well under running cold water. Then place it in the bowl with the fried ingredients.

Step 9

Step 9
Mix buckwheat with chicken and vegetables.

Step 10

Step 10
Pour 4 cups of water into the bowl with buckwheat and chicken. Always take twice as much water as buckwheat. Mix everything again, this time with water.

Step 11

Step 11
Close the multicooker with a lid and turn on the mode suitable for cooking porridge for 20 minutes.

Step 12

Step 12
20 minutes after the signal, buckwheat with chicken will be ready. You can leave it to simmer a little longer under the lid, or you can serve it right away.

Step 13

Step 13
Place the hot buckwheat and chicken into plates and serve for lunch or dinner. A good addition to this buckwheat would be fresh or canned vegetables and tomato juice.
