How to bake chicken with champignons and cheese in the oven? Prepare your food. To prepare this dish, you can use any part of the chicken; I used chicken thighs. With breast, the dish will become less caloric. It is better if it is chilled rather than frozen chicken. Champignons can be replaced with other mushrooms. Any cheese is suitable: both hard varieties and softer ones, for example, mozzarella. The main thing is that it is of good quality, without milk fat substitutes.

Peel the onion and cut into cubes.

Clean the mushrooms from dirt by carefully rinsing them under water. Do not wet them too much; the mushrooms will absorb the moisture and become watery. It is better to carefully remove dirt with a sponge. Cut the champignons into small pieces.

Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan. Add chopped onion. Fry it until golden brown for 5-7 minutes.

Add mushrooms to the onions, add a little salt so that they release excess moisture.

Fry the mushrooms and onions until the liquid evaporates. You can add your favorite seasonings for flavor. I added a sprig of thyme.

Wash the chicken well and cut into pieces. You can remove the skin — this will reduce the calorie content of the dish.

Place the chicken in a heatproof baking dish and add a little salt. At this stage, you can add your favorite seasonings to the dish.

Add chopped garlic. I just chopped the garlic cloves with a knife. But you can grate it on a fine grater or pass it through a press.

Place fried mushrooms and onions on the chicken.

Grate the cheese on a coarse grater and sprinkle on top of the dish. Bake the chicken in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for about 45 minutes. You can cover the top of the dish with foil to prevent the cheese from burning, but make sure that the foil does not adhere too closely to the cheese: during cooking it will melt and the foil may stick to it. At the end, remove the foil so that the dish is covered with a golden crust.
