Salt 15 g

How to make canned mackerel in oil in jars for the winter at home? Prepare all the necessary products. Canned food can be prepared from both fresh frozen fish and fresh fish. If you have frozen mackerel, you should first defrost it. How to do this correctly, read the article at the end of the recipe.

Gut the mackerel, be sure to remove the black film inside the belly, otherwise the finished product will be bitter. Cut off the heads, tails and fins. Rinse the fish thoroughly and dry.

Cut each carcass into portioned pieces of equal thickness.

Sprinkle the mackerel with salt, mix gently and leave it this way for 15-20 minutes.

Wash jars and lids thoroughly and dry with paper towels. Place a bay leaf and a few peas of black and allspice on the bottom of each jar.

Place the fish pieces tightly into the jars. I got two jars of 600 grams each. One jar fits approximately one medium-sized fish carcass.

Pour 3 tbsp into each jar. water and 3 tbsp. refined vegetable oil.

Seal the jars with lids and place them in a saucepan, the bottom of which is covered with a thin towel. Pour cold water up to the hangers (up to the lids). Set on fire. After boiling, reduce the stove flame to minimum, cover the pan with a lid (be sure to leave a small gap for steam to escape). Cook for 4-5 hours.

Turn off the stove and leave the jars in the water until they cool completely. Next, remove the jars from the pan, wipe with a towel and put in a cool place for long-term storage.
