Quick & Crispy Oven-Baked Lavash Pizza with Sausage and Cheese

Tasty, aromatic, on a very thin base, quick and easy. Lavash pizza in the oven is an interesting variation of a classic Italian dish. When baked, it develops a rich bready flavor and becomes very crispy on the edges but soft on the inside. The main thing is not to overcook the pizza in the oven!

Tomato sauce 3 tbsp

Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to make lavash pizza in the oven? Prepare the necessary ingredients. Turn on the oven to 180 degrees in advance. For a pizza with a diameter of 24 cm, from two whole sheets of thin Armenian lavash, use scissors to cut two equal-sized circles that exactly match the baking pan. A form is needed with low sides. To do this, it will be convenient to first mark the outline with the back of the knife, placing the bottom of the mold directly on the pita bread. And then, along the contour, cut.

Step 2

Step 2
To prevent the pizza from burning, I placed a Teflon baking sheet folded in half on the pan. You can simply grease the pan with sunflower oil or use high-quality baking parchment. Place the first circle of pita bread in the mold. Finely grate one third of the cheese on top. If you have any pita scraps left over, you can also spread them evenly over the cheese.

Step 3

Step 3
Next, lay out the second circle of pita bread. The base is ready. The cheese will firmly glue the base and prevent it from drying out too quickly during baking. Grease the base with tomato sauce. And place the sausage on top. Sausage and cheese are the flavor base for this pizza. Therefore, you don’t have to feel sorry for them.

Step 4

Step 4
Wash the peppers and dry them to remove excess moisture. Peel the onions. Both vegetables need to be chopped into very thin rings. Literally from 2 to 3 mm. Since the pizza will be baked in record time, the vegetables should be as thin as possible in order to have time to get ready. Spread the peppers and onions over the base. I didn’t add tomato, it seemed to me that it would add extra sourness.

Step 5

Step 5
Grate the remaining two-thirds of the cheese on top. Bake the pizza in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for a maximum of seven minutes. You shouldn’t bake it any longer, as the pita bread can dry out and become very hard and brittle. Focus on the appearance of the cheese crust: it’s browned, which means you can take it out. Pizza is served hot. I also poured some store-bought BBQ sauce on top. Bon appetit!
