Recipe instructions

Step 1

Step 1
How to fry chum salmon steak in a frying pan? Prepare your food. You can buy steaks ready-made or make them yourself from whole fish. If your fish was frozen, then defrost it as delicately as possible; under no circumstances use water or a microwave for this — the steaks will then turn out dry. It is best to defrost fish through the refrigerator — transfer it from the freezer to the bottom shelf in advance. Take odorless oil for frying.

Step 2

Step 2
Wash the thawed pieces and dry very well with paper towels. Salt and pepper them on both sides. You can also add your favorite fish seasonings. Drizzle lemon juice straight from the lemon over the fish. Adjust its quantity to your taste. Pour vegetable oil over the steaks and rub it well on both sides. Leave the chum salmon to marinate for 10-15 minutes.

Step 3

Step 3
Heat a heavy-bottomed frying pan over medium heat, preferably one with a non-stick coating. You can also fry steaks on a grill pan. The article at the end of the recipe will help you with choosing a frying pan. Place fish steaks in a heated frying pan. Please note that you do not pour oil into the frying pan — the amount you greased the fish with before marinating will be enough for frying.

Step 4

Step 4
How long to fry chum salmon steak in a frying pan? Fry chum salmon on one side for 3-7 minutes, depending on the thickness of the pieces. Then turn over to the other side and fry for the same amount of time. If you have thick steaks, you can turn them over one more time to cook. At the very end, I covered the frying pan with a lid and kept them on low heat for a couple of minutes for final frying.

Step 5

Step 5
Serve chum salmon steaks to the table; fresh or steamed vegetables, potatoes or rice are perfect with them. Bon appetit!
