Step 1

Step 1
How to make mackerel with onions and carrots in a frying pan? Prepare the necessary ingredients for this. It is best to choose mackerel not frozen, but chilled. If it is frozen, remove it from the freezer in advance and leave it at room temperature so that it defrosts on its own.

Step 2

Step 2
Cut off the head and tail of the mackerel. Remove the insides and black films. Rinse the fish well inside and out. Blot with paper towels to remove excess water. Cut the mackerel into pieces 3-4 cm thick.

Step 3

Step 3
Peel the onions and carrots and rinse them to remove dirt. Chop the onion not very finely, and grate the carrots on a coarse grater.

Step 4

Step 4
Heat the frying pan until hot and pour in a little vegetable oil. Add onions and carrots. Fry the vegetables for 1-2 minutes to soften them.

Step 5

Step 5
Then place the prepared mackerel pieces into the frying pan. Divide the onions and carrots evenly between the pieces and spread a little over them.

Step 6

Step 6
Add salt and spices to taste. Add bay leaf for flavor. I usually use fish spices. Add some water to the pan and cover with a lid. Cook over low heat for 20-25 minutes. If necessary, you can add a little more water.
